another tire size question

I have a 97 150 4x4 with 16x7 inch rims. It's running 265 75. I don't know about you people, but I hate those measurements. I'm all about inches. I heard I could fit 33x12.50's without having to lift. Anyone tried it yet?

A lot of people are running 285/75 (33x11.50) and 305/70(33x12.50) on stock 4x4's. They fit fine. If you go to an aftermarket 16x8 or 16x10 inch rim you will have to crank up the torsion bars and/or trim some plastic off the front bumper's lower plastic valance to fit them.

So how well will either of those tires fit on the stock wheel? 16x7?

Either will fit fine but a 16x8 is the minimum recommeded for a 305 by most manufacturers. That would be a good excuse to get some aftermarket rims later on. If you plan on keeping the stock 16x7's forever, I would go with the 285's.

As far as rubbing, I did not have any at all when I had my 285's on the stock rims.

Just so you know you will NOT have to cut or trim anything or crank up your torsion bars when running a LT285/75/16 with a 16x8 wheel. Also several guys on here run the 285/75/16's on their stock 16x7 wheels however i think the minimum recomended is 7.5". If you want to see what a truck looks like with 16x8 wheels and LT285/75/16 Tires go here:

No Rubbing No cutting No Trimming!
