Unhappy Welp....this sucks....

I was going to report that all was well for those looking for Russell SS braided lines....but such is not the case for the 4X4 crowd. I had thought I had found them through Summit, but something isn't right with them. I've tried to install them every which way I can and they didn't fit...so I decided to check the paper work. The website had listed part # RUS-693220 as fitting F150s from 1990 to 1999 with either 2 or 4wd. This it the part I orded and recieved. However, Russell's website has part # 693220 as fitting 2 and 4wd trucks from 1990 to 1996. They have part number 693310 listed for 2wd trucks from 1997-2003. I just got off the phone with Summit tech support and they confirmed my findings and everything is in order to return the lines I have in exchange for either my $ or the proper part. Just thought I'd pass this information along. I may need the info to get them from someone else if Russell still has not made provisions for my 98 4wd.

There's a local industrial supplier who will make braided line while you wait so, tomorrow I'm going to look into it. I'll try to get back to you with the success of this option.

Just my .02 cents.... performanceplusbrakes.com has the braided stainless steel lines that I think your looking for on a 2wd or 4wd applicatioon. Just ordered them and get them in a few days...you can either get a 2 line kit for just the front and run about 120.00 and the 3 line kit ( front and back) and runs about 149.00.

Take a look at your truck before you get lines...my '02 has 5, yes five, rubber hoses that would need to be replaced. One at each wheel and then the one running from the frame to the rear axle.

Also keep in mind the #1 benefit to replacing rubber brake hoses with stainless braided ones is to reduce flex and expansion while under pressure (applying the brakes). If you don't replace ALL of them, it kinda defeats the purpose because you will still have that weak link in there if you leave any of the rubber ones.
