L wheels on my truck

I'm confused. I've been searching and reading a lot of threads on Lightning rims on non-lightning trucks and think I am more conused than when I started.

How hard would it be to take 2002 Lightning Wheels and put them on my truck? My truck is a 2000 XLT. What would I have to do to my truck to fit them?

Also, how much do lightning wheels weight w/o tire so I can figure out how much shipping on them would be.

Thank you!

they will fit on your truck, chrome will run 1000, while if you buy them off some1 who had them on their l stock, you can get em for 500-600.

They will fit on your truck.

Changes needed :

Lug nuts ( of course for the acorn to the 'mag style' lug ). These are ~ $ 8.00 per wheel, not per lug as passed around a few months ago.

L Wheel stops : Ford Racing P/N : M-1010-L ( oemfordparts.com has the best price, I got hosed for an additional 6.00 for the set from Summit )

Some do the move the brake line trick, don't know if this stops the rub 100%, I'd rather spend 30.00 and 1.5 hours work to know I'm not going to take off a wheel weight from the inside myself.

That is it for the changes needed.

When I did shipping charges from ATL, GA to Chicago, IL it was 25.00 per wheel for the Silver ones, don't know if the chrome ones are that much heavier. I forget the weight per wheel off hand, I only recall the additional costs to the wheel charges, when comparing a local set to a set in GA.

If you get them from a Ford racing vendor like oemfordparts.com, the shipping is cheaper. They have the silver and chrome ones fairly cheap.
Fordpartsonline.com is not a Ford racing dealer, so they cannot get the wheel stops. Gary Star told me that parts starting with the letter M are Ford Racing parts.

Let us know if that is what you were asking about or not.

Good luck

Steve

Edit :
SVT L Wheels Chrome : 325.00 each
SVT L Wheels Silver : 200.00 each.
oemfordparts.com is SouthWest Ford in Weatherford, TX

Intel, you're also in luck because oemfordparts is located in Tennesse so shipping might be substantially cheaper for you.

I just went and checked on the year break again, and you need to check the build date of your truck. It was 29-NOV-99 for the mid 2000 model year that the stud size was changed on these.

I keep reverting back to the Bolt pattern part of it, the 5x135 and the 5x5.5 ( 91 to 96 ).

You need to check the build date, to find out which lugs you need to order for the wheels.

Ford Racing Catalog page 81
M-1012-C set of 5; 12 mm lug nuts MSRP : $ 12.95
M-1012-E set of 5; 14 mm lug nuts MSRP : $ 12.95

It just hit me on the way home, that I might have gotten the build date wrong. Usually it is 97-99 for 12 mm, and 00-current for 14, but the 2000 year is an odd year, that it could be either or.

Sorry about forgetting the detail on this.
Try www.oemfordparts.com for the pricing and application on these first, that would be the final word in what fits what, they are pretty good with getting things tracked down, and they seem to have the best prices on Ford Racing parts ( Fordpartsonline.com is not a Ford Racing dealer ).

Just to clarify something. If you get genuine Ford wheels then you must get the Ford Racing lug nuts as stated above. If you get copies, chances are they require acorn style (beveled). If that is the way you go contact me, I have a set of chrome one's I'll cut you a deal on.
If you put 2002 wheels they will have 14mm holes and if your truck was made before 11/29/99 you have 12mm studs which won't be a problem if you use M-1012-C lug nuts
