53K on stock tires?
I was just wondering who else has gotten good life out of their stock tires. I have 53K on my stock Goodyear RTs and could probably go to 60 with a fair amount of tread left. However the life of these tires are the only good thing about them. They break loose under very mild throttle in snow ad rain, they have horrible cornering and lateral stability and the side walls seem to get softer with age. Anyone have good recomendations for replacements? I'd like to get new tires sometime in the next month or two and would like to go one size up to a 265/70/R16.
well I'm just around 36k on my stock 265/70R/17 Goodyears, and have been wanting tires for a long time. A friend had to replace one on his 2002 supercab, and it was 180 for the OEM tire! For $20 more you could get a 285/70/17 BF Goodrich AT/KO, which is what I'll be going with when I finally purchase tires.
If you search around this forum, you'll see lots of votes for BF Goodrich, Pro Comp, and if you have 16" rims, Michelin. a little more pricey tire I hear, but a great tire from what I've read.
Best of luck.

I got 59,000 out of my original Goodyear Wranglers. I still had 6/32" left. So, I probably could have gotten 60,000 + if I would have kept them on. Tire pressure and rotation make the difference. I adjust tire pressures monthly and kept a constant 35 psi in the front and 40 psi in the back. I got rid of them for some Firestone Destination M/T's that took me to 285/75-16's. Awesome tire. Great in the snow..

I am at 65,000 on the stock warngler APs.
I get them inspected next month.
If they pass I'll go another year and another 16,500.
That will be about 82k and all I want out of them.
(They look like they got half their tread left.)

I think my brother has 75k on his stock RT/S tires. They look like they needed to be repalced a long time ago, IMO. I went 60k on the AT/S and the last 20k wasn't too great in the rain or snow. But still 5/23 of tread left.
I got 53k on the stock RT/S. I have decent tread left though they're startin to feel tired. Always had a problem with *** end when it is wet when taking off. Thought that was just a function of driving an unloaded PU truck. Never had one that didn't break loose in the wet. I got a little switch on the dash that fixes that just fine though in this truck. I got the 3.55 LSD too.
Any body know the width of the 17" sawblades- I'm shoppin for new tires myself.

Looks like I'm not the only one who's gotten good milage out of these crappy tires. I've had Kelly's on my old 97, which made a world of difference. I think I'll go with the same. Anyone have opinions on going one size larger (from 255 to 265)? Will I feel amuch of a power difference or will the truck act the same as it does? My gut tells me that the overall performance change will be undetectable, but I'm just looking for some opinions here. Thanks!!
I may be mistaken here, but the sawbaldes are 8 inches wide.

I believe your towing capacity drops about 500 lbs.

One more year, I swear, and that's it!
I should be at 82K then.
I will get them rejected just to be sure.
If they do pass, I'm going for 100,000 miles.
(That will be a total of 100,000 slippin', slidin', white knuckle drivin.)
