Question Brake question

I have a 97 f150 with 24,000 miles and never have done a brake job yet. My question is should i go ahead a do a brake job or should I wait until I need a brake job?

Thanks

My 1997 4x4 has 54K and the brakes are still doing great. I had them checked at 40K and they had over 50% left. Maybe you should find a " trustworthy " mechanic to perform a courtesy check ( if you can find one ).

My truck has 47400 miles and still have a lot of meat left on the pads, but had too replace the rotors to pass inspection.

You should check them yourself if you have the time, it only takes 10 min. I have noticed from reading posts that the 4X2 with rear drums need the front brakes done around 24000, while the 4X4 seem to go much longer without service, I wonder if the 4X4 all have 4 wheel disc. My 98 front were gone at 21000, and then again at 44000, have yet to do rear had them inspected recently and still look good.
