Post Rear brake upgrades on 1999 F150

Does anyone have suggestions? At this point the brakes are the only thing I don't like on my truck. Are there disc brake conversions? How about front brake upgrades?

Thanks,

Bryan

Cool

What you might try is increasing the braking co-efficiency. I use brake linings from carbotech engineering (internet site). Thier linings (street fighter/pads & #914/shoes) I use on several vehicles and am very pleased. They stop like or better than the old Velva Touch (brake linings used in NASCAR & INDY from 1960's through 1980's), produce less dust than OEM and are quiet. I estimate my pad wear at 60,000-80,000 miles and shoes at 75,000-100,000 based upon present wear patterns. Typically, they will increase your braking efficiency about 25% and eliminate most if not all your brake fade. Pedal firness also increases to an acceptable firm feeling with excellent pedal modulation. Cost for linings is about $120-140 per set.

If you want to save some money over the cost of a Baer kit, just find a wrecked Expedition. They have rear disks on both the 8.8 and 9.75 axles.
