You probably have rear-wheel ABS.

If yours is anything like it was on my '97 4x2 -- they suck!

Never released in snow -- but were slightly better than nothing on dry pavement (where rears in pickups can be a bit touchy).

I did manage to lock the front on dry pavement a couple of times -- but it was during some really hard braking -- for which I didn't mind the lock-up -- as it was predictable.

ABS is really only for the un-predictable (or un-coordinated).

Ford finally got it right for Y2K, however, as Nick's brakes are predictable (if not a bit sensitive).

Post ABS?

I have a 97' SC 4x4 Off-Road with th 4.6. Does anyone know what brake set up came with my truck in regards to ABS? I have an ABSS light in the dash that does light up when I start the truck, but more than once have had to slam on the brakes and the tires completely locked up. Was ABS an option in this truck or do I have them (2 wheel or 4 wheel?) and they just arent not working?. This is a great site!. Any help would be appreciated.
