Post Back of truck bounces when braking

The back of my truck bounces when I brake. It's not real bad like the back wheels are coming off the ground or anything like that. It dosen't do it every time and sometimes it's not as bad as other times. Sometimes it dosen't do it at all. Does it have disc or drum on the back? Thanks

Too light in the rear with no cargo. Mine does the same with either OEM shocks or new Gabriels.

Do you get a pulsating pedal? Mine bounced pretty bad until I installed new rotors. the old ones were warped!

No,the pedal desen't pulsate. I think it has drum brakes on the back but I'm not sure. Most of the time I don't have much weight in the back but I do pull a camper and I didn't notice the hop then. Thanks

Not bouncing when pulling the camper because the camper's weight helps stabilize the light weight rear end of the truck.

But it is not a bad idea to check the rear shocks and other rear suspension components for excessive wear and tear that contributes to poor handling.

My '97 bounced very badly until I replaced the front rotors. Don't ask me why but that sucker would bounce your molars out until I replaced the rotors up front.

Either replace or turn the front rotors. I know it doesn't make sense...but it works.

Thanks TexasAG. Thats what I though but I wasn't sure. I walked passed an F-150 the other day and it had disc brakes on the back. Must of been a conversion.

mine does the same thing.

it is the rotors.
they are warpped just like everyone elses which we sould all go to Ford about this and try and have them recalled.

its BS. this shouldnt happen.

the rotors warp and when you try to stop the rotors and pads cant grab right to stop the vehicke. (grab and release grab and release grab and release)

If you don't feel pedal pulsation when it's bouncing it's probably NOT the rotors.
You might want to follow JMTruck's advice and check for worn components in the rear before replacing front rotors.

I think I'm going to take it in. It's still under warranty. I'll have them check the brakes and the dome light that stays on way too long. I just did a search on that and it sounds like a switch. Thanks!
