Angry supercrew ruptured brake line

i am wondering if any of you with brake issues have had any brake-lines go bad...ive got 700 miles on my new truck and it just ruptured a brake line...of course since the truck is so new they have yet (2 working days) to even locate a replacement brake-line,and ford refuses to supply me a rental car so im a little bit upset....

Yikes!

Was it a flex-line?

Did you see any external wear on the line?

Under what conditions did it break?

What affect did it have on stopping at that time?

Where (wheel position) was it?

Were you off-road with it at any time where it could have been 'snagged'?

well,i was not offroad when it happened....actually i recieved a brake warning light and i immeadiately took it over to dealer and parked it....so it never ran out of fluid, but was close.....i am not sure which line it was but from the way they explained it,im guessing it was the metal line....but still no parts as of yet....still waiting.....gotta love ford's customer satisfaction...

Oh, no biggie.

If it was underneath the truck it's just as likely to have been chain damage as anything else.

Shake it off, and join the I-Love-My-Truck group.

tohigh,

Ford only pays for a rental car with the extended service plan...do you have the extended service plan?

Rental or "loaner" cars can be negotiated when purchasing the vehicle. I have had some experience with dealers dragging their heels in the service dept. and will only buy from a dealer that will provide a loaner while they have mine in for service. From the sounds of your damage I would agree that chain damage is a possibility. Talk sternly with the sales manager at the dealer and work your way up complaining about not having a vehicle. If this doesn't do you any good then buy somewhere else next time. Just my opinion...

I cracked a rear metal rear brake line that runs from the connection on the differential to the passenger side rear wheel. It was my fault when messing with my rear sway bar. Ford dealer said leave it for at least half a day. I went to an auto parts store and bought a straight piece of line and bent it myself. Use a good tubing bender and you will be okay. You buy the tubing with the ends flared and the connectors already in place.

Cool

well, after waiting 10 days for the brake line part to arrive....i am finally driving my truck again....i did have an extended warranty but it only covered 6 days of the repair....i then contacted Ford factory rep and complained of problem and they said that they would authorize a rental after my extended warranty rental ran out....i was just a little upset that they couldnt tell me when they would recieve my part....not to mention the $$$$ i spent and the fact i had to scream just to get the chance to drive a ford escort....LOL

enough whining....
