stop sqeaking!!!!
i have a 94 f150 XLT 2wd auto that is about to drive me crazy. Every time i slow to stop, the brakes sound like an old bus. I've had the pads relpaced twice and used many different dust cleaners, but nothing seems to work for more than a week. The high-pitched squeak seems to be coming from the front end, but i can't figure this one out. Any theories would be greatly accepted....thanks.
Do you have the anti-squeal shims on the back of the pads? If not, that would be the first place to look. Also, did you have the rotors turned? If not, did you remove the "glaze?"

More improtantly, are you an "easy" driver who stops very gradually. If this is the case, it is very hard not to "glaze" the pads since they rarely heat up appropriately. The two recommendations I would have are:
1. Put some brake quiet on the back of the pads to limit vibration.
2. Put AJAX (or Comet) on the pads/rotors and take her out for some 60 - 0 stops as hard as you can until you smell the brakes burning. That will take the glaze off and the rest is up to you. If you drive too easy, it will happen again. If you occasionally giver her a couple of good stops, you should be OK.
