Have any of the bay area guys been down to Hollister? i know big 50 has but i think it might be a great meeting place for everyone, or possibly prairie city out by Sacramento(its only about a hr drive for me from the east bay)
Oh haha. That "" was supposed to be for another posting. Not really dying to know where he lives

Hollister or Sac sound cool to me.

So I was thinking that since a trip to prairie, which seems to be easier for most people here, would be a day trip we don’t have to wait for the nights to warm up enough to sleep. Therefore we could set up a trip much sooner. So when is everyone available in the next two months? If there’s enough interest ill set up a separate thread for it.

I used to go all the time when I had my Sidekick.
There's a reason why the Tough Truck Challenge is held there....
Pull up some youtube vids with Hollister in the search and you'll get addicted real fast.

Hollister has some great Trails,from real Easy to the "Tank Trap"....
The Sidekick I had was bone stock and I had it on at least 90% of the trails.
There is a "Campground",it's pretty much a Parking Lot you set up in.
It's "hilly" so water runoff is ideal so the trails aren't too bad.Some get some deep washouts/ruts,some stay "packed".
The last time I was there,some guy thought it would be "cool" to drive into a pond with his '64 2wd Chevy Longbed.
Picture the scene in Titanic where the bow of the ship was under water.It was like that.....

If you go,you need to go to the Ranger Station 1st,pay the fee and then drive to the "Upper Ranch" Gate with the code the Rangers give you,open the Gate,drive through,then close and lock it.
The Upper Ranch is for Vehicles other than Bikes/Quads/ATV's.

Here's the Trail Difficulty rating;

Here's the Upper Ranch map;

Passes and Fee schedule;

General Info;
http://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=1179

If you've never been there,it's a "hike" to get there.
Once you go through the Town of Hollister,it's not too far.
IF you have a 1000 Trails membership,there's the 1000 Trails Campground farther South on Cienega Rd.

Sounds like a good time. I just have a question about the passes. I live in California now but still registered back in ND so I would be getting the $30 pass??

I replied on that thread. I may be down for this. Let's get a confirmed group. If not, April is good.
