oil change easy question

does a 4.6 trito really take 6-7 quarts of oil? thats what the jiffy lube guy told me. i guess i am not used to those bigger engines. i swear my moms honda only took 4.5. and i know i read in the engine bay 5w-30, but would 10w-30 hurt it?

Hey-
My 4.6 holds a full 7 quarts but i usually put in 6-6.5. Putting in 6 full will usually be plenty, just be sure that that includes the oil filter which you fill about 1/2 way with oil. I run Mobil 1 5w-30 full synthetic and i live in mid missouri where temps vary from -20 to 95 degrees. 10w30 woulndt hurt your motor at all. If its a hotter climate, run 10w30. If temps are lower, run 5w30. 5w30 is just thinner so it will protect better under low temps and 10w30 is a bit thicker to protect in high temps when oil gets a little runnier. Either one would work. Any more questions, post 'em, we'll try and help ya out!
