Ignition Coil Pack

Hey every one,
I had to take my truck into the shop the other day cause it was continually misfiring. The dealer replaced the coil pack, eith one from a 4.6L V8 and i have the 5.4 is that ok?

Any help you all can give me on this would be greatly appreciated.

uh, it's my understanding that the 4.6l has plug wires, and not coil packs.

According to Mike Troyer 2000 and up 4.6L have the coil packs on the plugs like the 5.4L. 97-99 have two coils on the front of the engine and plug wires.

As evidence, I will offer that my 2000 4.6 has COP

Hi jcma81,

Yes, that's fine.

The 4.6 used conventional plug wires until sometime in the 2000 model year (depending on assembly line), as there are both 2000 4.6's with COP and without COP, too. By the 2001 model year *all* F-150 4.6's are COP.

As long as it's a COP, then you can use any F-150 4.6 or 5.4 COP Ford Coil pack.
