AFE intake kit!!
Just wanted to give everyone a heads up....
I installed the AFE intake kit on my '02 5.4. This kit has an integrated 'box', similar to volant, but open on the top (seals against the hood).
What a piece of work! Those guys at AFE really know how to build a kit. Got mine off Ebay for cheap ('bout $200). Installation was as easy as it could have been. Great hardware, robust components, looks good, but you can also tell it was built to perform.
Sorry I don't have pics, yet, and I am still gathering MPG data. I will try to post both soon. I just wanted to get this out there, because I have read a LOT of posts about intake kits, and I have never seen the AFE mentioned. I felt like a guinea pig.
Excellent fit, great looks, sounds almost like I added a mild exhaust kit, and MPG looks good. The seat of my pants says I didn't loose any power, but any gain would probably be less than the 25 advertised. Maybe 10. It's more utilitarian than OEM, so it does stand out under the hood. Damn it looks good, tho.
If you are looking at the higher dollar intake kits, you'd be silly not to check it out.
