quick release oil drain plug

Went back to threads in July and can't find the maufacturer of the quick release oil drain plug. Had it on my 2000 5.4 and it was just great to flip the valve and have the oil pouring out. Got a 4x4 1998 E-250 Van and just have to have it again.....I believe the product is now OEM for about 5 major Japanese car manufacturers. I recommend this for anybody who does his/her oil changes...........Phil

It's made by FUMOTO. Use google as your search engine that always does a great job of turning up what ya need.

Here's the link to the fumoto valve. I've had one for 3 years on my Y2k.

That's a good idea, but I would be afraid a rock or something would hit it and drain me dry. Then it would be like that other post of shooting a rod through the oil pan.

Fumoto valve

Hey guys , thanks for the link to Fumoto, I turned some friends on to the product 1 1/2 yrs ago and 5 friends immediately bought it and think it's the greatest thing since sliced bread. All you do-it-yourselfers who complain about getting oil on a crossmember or something else would then have nothing to complain about. I can't believe so many would be worried about a rock hitting it......it is engineered great . On my F150 4x4 5.4, it was out of the way and the same thing on my E250 4x4 5.4 VAN. I add about 12 inches of clear aquarium hose over the end, flip the valve, observe the color as it drains, leave it draining for 30 mins. then fill er up........complainers...take note..........will order one in 30 mins....think it was $25......thx,phil

there are 2 versions of the fumoto drain valve, hobie cat is talking about the one with the hose attachment. if you have an L or something low don't get the one with the hose n!pple.

it is nearly impossible for a rock to knock it loose. and if you are that worried you can easily put a wire tie on it and it will never open unitl you cut that wire tie off!

i have them on all of my vehicles and i could not live without them!

Talking

Each to their own..... I'll just continue to remove the bolt and let it drain the way nature intended it.

Nothing against the valve, but there is already so little that can be done on these new rigs. I just like to be able to use my wrenchs on something!! Don't take that away from me too!! ha, ha

I don't see the fumoto on that site, but the link I provided above let's you purchase the fumoto valve right from the manufacturer.

Fumato drain

Called PerformanceProducts and it is $19.95 but ship & handling& tax is $29.95. Going right to the Fumato site is $25.95 delivered...no tax. The part nr is F-106 , F-106 N is the valve with the extension for a hose and is $3 more. I can actually slip the aquarium clear hose over the small ridge on the regular F-106 valve. Seemed like whenever I changed oil and and let it drip, even a slight breeze would push the oil places other than where it was supposed to land....plus you don't have to clean the funnel.

Thanks Hobie, I'd forgotten about that neat little drain plug till your post. I had one on my 97 F-150. Meant to order one from Performance yesterday, and got side tracked. Now I'm glad I did, you just saved me enough for a 6 pack.
