Mobil 1

went to walmarts tonight and saw the new 0W-20 full synthetic that Mobil makes now. SHould i use this instead of Mobil 1 5w30 synthetic? What are the advantages/disadvantages?
Also, I noticed that they had Mobil 1 oil for sale in big 5 quart containeers for 14 bucks. But it was 10W30 for higher milage engines. Thats a good price considering its 4.50 a quart! Do they sell. Do they sell these 5 qt containers in 5W30 or 0W20?
thanks
Patrick

I've always used 5W-30 Mobil 1 but plan on changing to the 0W-20 at my next change. I believe the 0W-20 weight might be abit better for the cold months, I'll be switching back to the 5W-30 next summer. Many believe the 0W-20 should be used to keep the warranty in force. Walmart does sell the other Mobil 1 oils in the bulk containers, they have them on sale from time to time.

Well, if we're posting opinions here...I think I'm gonna start using it on my next oil change and run it all the time. I ran the factory for the first 5,000 and then went with Mobil 1 5W30. Thinkin about changing back to that because it's available and really didn't tell any difference at all between the 5W30 and 5W20. I hate to admit it but maybe just a small bit of concern over the warranty thing and wanna try to squeeze out as much gas mileage as I can. Not that it's gonna matter.

it's all a matter of degree (pun intended!!) if your climate is quite cold in the winter; as in occasionally -10 degrees or colder, you will definitely benefit from the 0W. as long as it is "20" on the warm end, you are fine. as for the summer, i've been using the 5W-20 and doing just fine. but i think you could use either 5W-30 or 10W-30 without any issues. if 10W-30 is cheaper, use it in the summer when cold starting is not an issue.

Question warranty ?

I've heard others mention their concern over warranty issues when deciding whether or not to use something other than the specified weight oil. This may sound dumb but how is the dealer going to know what weight oil you got in there? Granted I'm sure there's a way but what's the likelihood of that happening?

Green_98,
You sure you're not talking about 0W-30 instead of 0W-20? I can't find the 0W-20 anywhere. No Seattle auto parts have it including the local Wal-Mart(s). I even called two local Mobil petroleum suppliers and they can't get it from their suppliers. Weird. Getting impatient cause I'm nearly due for an oil change...

I went to the Mobil website, and they don't even mention it in their data yet.

Yeah, six quarts will put the oil midway on the dip stick which is normal operating level, another half quart will put it to the top which isn't really necesary.
