mobil 1 useage on older motor

I have a 97' f-150 with 56,000 miles, truck wasn't used that much, 4.6l motor, like new in and out, all power except seat's
but i don't know what oil was used by other owners, manual
says 5x30, does it matter what i want to use as long as its a
good oil like mobil 1.

Why not just use Ford oil or even better Mobile 1 with Ford 820S filter?

Check out the "Oil Viscosity Consensus" thread in our Engine forum. There you will see what people are using. It maybe helpful for you to check out other threads. Do a search; with all the previous threads, you could extrapolate enough information to do a doctoral disertation.

Good luck with your choice.

I swapped over to Mobil 5w-30 with the 820s filter at about the same milage your at. Needless to say, I'm happy with it and wouldn't go back.
