New 5.4 coming
My 2000 has a plastic intake. It seems to be fine, but I am still not a fan of plastic. I heard they do not handle backfires very well.
A version of that 3 valve is in the Austrailian Ford Falcon now. It has variable cam timing w/ speed density electronics. (Speed density is only for Australia at the moment. But I hear a lot of auto manufactures have already gone back to speed density as a cost savings. The mass air meters are a prety high cost item. If you run 100% closed loop like Honda with the NTK full range universal EGO sensors you don't need Mass Air. (F.A.S.T. and Fel Pro after market EFI systems have been like this.) The 3 valve is a pretty decent engine, kind of the best between 2 and 4 valve, lot of torque. I do not remember the numbers though. I wanted to try one in my truck, but they just laughed. There is a V10 version too. It would be really cool as a lightning version!
