Question about engine ping
Question about engine ping
Does installing from the cat back with two flowmaster 40's cause the engine to ping. I was just wondering because I have a new 5.4 fx4 screw and it pings even after it is warmed up.
Thanks

Should have no effect on pinging whatsoever.... Unfortuantely, there's a whole list of other possibilities that could cause your problem.... Useing fuel injection cleaner, and cleaning your MAF are usually the tip of the iceberg. If that doesn't take care of your problem if you will do a search you will find many suggestions to work through... You might also consider a chip.
you said your truck was new so I wouldn't worry about the other posts on this thread. Of course a chip wouldn't hurt if you want to go that route!!
Did you reset the computer after the muffler install? Give that a try because those two flows have changed the way the engine performs but the puter is still trying to do it the old way.
also buy a brand name gas and do not go higher in octane as to what your manual calls for.
good luck-

Disconnect negative battery terminal, turn headlights on for 5-10 minutes, then reconnect the battery terminal. When starting your truck back up for the first time, let it idle for atleast 5 minutes before driving it so it can relearn it's idle properties. Your truck will shift a little strange for the first day or so while it relearns everything. BTW, how many miles do you have?
...And if your luck really ran out, your battery could go KABLOOEY!
You do not want a battery to blow up. It sounds like a bomb. I had one blow up at startup on my old '87 and I thought somebody had booby trapped my truck. If it happened today, I'd think Bin Laden's denizens had gotten to me. To add insult to injury, the engine compartment was totally sprayed with battery acid. Not a fun thing to deal with.
