Um.. what were you driving before your '03? I went from a Prelude to a F-150, of course it felt sluggish at first. No more corners at 30+.. The brakes definitely were more sluggish.

03 FX4 so you should have the 3.73's, shouldn't be that slow. I went from 3.73's to 3.55's and definitely noticed a slow down, so I added a superchip. Also, after 5k miles, it seems to have picked up a bit.

Mine always feels REALLY sluggish after driving my 69 SS396...

Ummm.... 300 ZX Vs F-150? I think that says everything.

P.S. Don't forget, your truck weighs almost 6,000 lbs, wet!

My 02 doesnt seem slugish at all, in fact, it goes like snot.
However, it eats gas faster than a fat chick on a pepperoni pizza.

Maybe not the best example, but you get the idea
You should notice a little more snap as it breaks in more.

Good luck!

I just got my 02 with a 5.4 and also thought it was kinda dragging. as it broke in more and more it seemed a little looser, but then I put on a FIPK and Gibson cat-back and WOW! It glides down the highway now.

I think the stock exhaust was very restrictive and replacing it made the biggest improvement because before it felt like:

Example ~ When you let off the gas while cruising at 80 it would drop way off (stock) and after the exhaust it kinda kept gliding along easier when you let off the gas....

have 02 5.4, previously had an 01 5.4 (we won't discuss that lemon).. anyway, I was told that the computer EEPROM was set to operate diffeently at aout 10,000 miles to allow for break-in. I do not know if I was being fed a line, or if was the power of suggestion,or what , but the engine did feel a lot more responsive after that mileage. Pehaps someone more knowledgeable about these engines could say if this were true or not..

I agree with you alleycat, when my 2000 F-150 hit 10,000 miles, one day shortly thereafter I went to start my truck and it cranked over a little longer than normal, (just like right after I installed my SuperChip) and then after that it seemed like the engine was a whole lot more responsive.

I hope my new '03 does the same thing after 10,000 miles.
