Unhappy 11.8 Wtf???

Well just figured out my fuel mileage and came up with a dissapointing 11.8. Time for a tune up? Or just time to stop driving it around like its a hot rod?

Welcome to the real world of fuel economy.

You will hear some amazing tales of fuel mileage on this forum, but the reality of it is, we are "gas guzzlers".

All kidding aside, if you haven't changed your fuel filter in awhile, you might want to replace it and then also run some fuel injector cleaner additive in your tank. I would recommend either Techron or Heartland fuel additive. Some shops also recomend a fuel injector cleaner service that can sometimes be a little more thorough than a bottle of additive. Ask them how they perform their fuel injector cleaning service, and if they just add a bottle of additive, then just do it yourself. As for a tuneup, if it's been over 50,000 miles on your last plug change, then you might want to consider that also. Good luck.

Agreed. Atleast you're doing better than I am. With 33's, I get 10 city and 11.3 hwy.

damn, i have an 89 5.0 (which are infamous for bad gas mileage) with 33" tires and i can get 12 on average! i'd say its time for a tune up. try pulling one of your spark plugs (the easiest one to get to) and see what kind of shape its in. good luck!

Habibi, you are a very bad Canadian

If you're calculating "Kilometers Per Litre, then you are really getting around 8-10 Miles Per Gallon with this trailer

I sure hope it's cold up there

BILL!! I haven't seen ya on here in forever man! Truck running a bit poor, eh? When was the last time you replaced O2 sensors? I know it's a bit expensive, but it will probably help out, especially if you haven't changed them yet.

How's the baby doing?

I get 13-14 city with a 99 5.4L ORP 3.73 rear end. A little less in the winter and a worst of 9mpg with 95% of the tank driven snow locked 4x4.

Change the plugs, air filter, fuel filter, PCV valve and reset the computer. Should help a bit.

Clean your fuel injectors. Also, seems common for EGR circuit to get carboned up causing bad milage. Plugs.
Good luck.
