Unhappy replaced head gaskets again

My husband and I own a 99 F150. It has been to the dealer 3 times for oil leaks. They replaced the head gaskets and now it's in there for the same thing. The dealer says hes going to talk to Ford and that he will take care of us (hopefully). We don't know how far they will go in taking care of us. I noticed a similar problem with other owners. It's a 5.4 and has @ 50,000. My husband loves his pickup but is discouraged about this problem. I told him that I read here that they have a new head gasket. Hopefully this will help.

Hi,

We're sorry about your troubles. I'm assuming that you're taking the truck back to the dealer who sold it to you in the first place, that will always make a difference. Also, if you had it in for the same issue before your warranty expired, that should help too.

Hopefully everything will turn out alright. Keep us updated.

Unfortunately it's not the same dealer that we bought the truck from, it was in a different area from where we live, but we have been going to the same one from the start. We have saved every receipt. The head gaskets have been replaced twice already and it's still leaking, (Both times were still under warranty, thank god), and the piston slap noise first thing in the morning when it's cold never has been fixed. (They couldn't tell us what the problem was on that one) Thanks to this site, I printed the piston slap summery and had my husband read it and it sounds like we have that as well. We are going to demand (ask) them for a new engine. I don't know what they will say but hopefully they will be cooperative. I'm glad I found this site, it's very helpful and informative. Thanks!!

Hi Sheila Welcome!

There are posts here with same problem.

You may have already seen/ done? If not, try "search" to look for old info. Head gasket/PSlap/FQR engines etc.
Also how others got fix/no fix.

Fortunately earlier repairs were done (yeah, i know) even thou they didn't last. So that is a very strong plus in your favor as you may already know. Seems to me Ford would still be liable.

Keep us updated if you can. Of course its just business..so try and do with a (as best you can)

Good luck...OT
