Just wondering if anybody else has had this problem?? I have a 97 w/4.6l 1-150. I have had a burping noise coming from my gas cap while driving or at a light idling. I was told from the dealer that the cap was not sealing properly and it was a vacum problem and that my "check engine" light should be coming on.....but its not?? I got a new cap from the dealer and the problem has persisted. The gas cap is one of the 1/8 of a turn types and wish I could find a solution to the problem. It seems to get worse when the tank get below a 1/4 tank.

Does anybody else have this problem or have a solution to my problem??

Never heard of this problem. Can't even imagine that kind of sound coming from my gas cap...

If a new cap didn't fix it, then maybe you should check the vent lines to see if there's a problem. Could be pinched somewhere. I'm also wondering if overfilling the tank regularly and having the gas backflow down the vent lines if that couldn't be the problem?

 

Must be pretty loud if you can hear it from the cab! I can't see a gas cap making this kinda noise. How is your gas guage reading?
