Unhappy No Check Engine Light ????????

NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ????????

What type of problems triggers the "CHECK ENGINE LIGHT" on a 2001 F150????? I get several split second hesitations when I'm at a steady speed or accelerate slowly. The engine idle is smooth and if I accelerate fast or moderately it runs good. Could it be a simple bad gas problem?

BTW, this happens weather overdrive is on or off and the same goes for cruise control.

Many things can trip the check engine light. Typically if something is malfunctioning the check engine light will stay on and the the computer will store the trouble code. If you have an Autozone nearby, I would suggest having them hook up their code reader and see if any codes have been triggered. If no codes are triggered, then I would suggest that it could be a faulty circuit that is causing it to blink intermittently. Either way, some sort of service is probably warranted. If you get a code, then post in here and maybe somebody can help diagnose it for you.

I'm thinking it's bad gas or water in the tank, that's why no CEL.

There are close to 1500 possible triggers for a Check Engine light to illuminate in our F-150's. When in doubt, check it out!
