Oil on the spark plug, wire,

I had a plug go out ina previous thread but I have another question. When I replaced the plug ther is alot of oil on the old plug, on the boot of the wire, and in the cyclinder where the spark plug was in. I know this is bad but how bad is it?

Here is a link that explains spark plugs pretty thoroughly. You need to be sure that it's actually oil fouled and not carbon buildup or splash deposits with wet fuel that hasn't been ignited because of a misfire condition. Good luck.

I think what 98STXV8 was saying is not on the firing end but on the porclean end where the plug wire slips on.

Which plug was it? If it's any onf the plugs on the right hand (pass.) side then it may be from spilled oil from filling. I know once I freaked out as I had oil build up in two of the plug wire cover mounting tab holes. I thought I had a seal leaking, cleaned it up checked at every stop and after a week no more oil. Finally figured out I had spilled just what I thought was a few drops but it all collected in one spot. You may also cheack and make sure the PCV of breather tube are not undone. Check close around the oil filler neck and look real close where timing cover meets valve cover.

Yea, the last person who changed my oil spilt quite a bit of oil down in my plugs. I had to change the plugs and the wires. It was causing 3 of my cylinders to missfire, it really sucked.

From what I can tell the plug looks oil fouled. So I replaced the plug and will replace the wire this week I hope. The plug in question is the on the passenger side last one in the back.
