High idle

My 2001 Screw (5.4L) seems to be idling too high, between 1500 and 1700 RPM's. Should I rush to my dealer ASAP or wait a week or 2 till I have more time? Just wondering if I am endangering myself or my engine if I wait a few days on this. Thanks.

My 5.4L has sometimes been idling around 1000 rpm (warm) recently then next time I drive it's back to 600 rpm.

I was planning on replacing the IAC, any other ideas?

I think you guys have nailed it, only I wouldn't replace it just take it off and clean it, it is probably full of carbon. If it is clean then I would replace.

Yeah, already cleaned it once and now experiencing a little different problem with the high idle (last time the engine wouldn't even run without "racing" the engine).

Just hate to replace the IAC valve with a new one and find out that this is not the problem.
