Air Filters

Do all K&N "type" air filters need to be oiled? I have a filter that I bought from a friend. It does not have a brand name on it, and I don't know whether to oil it or not. Help, please.

To the best of my knowledge, all K&N type filters need to be oiled. The K&N oil is generally red. What's this air filter look like?

The filter itself is blue, but it has a wire mesh type material encasing it. Looks dry as a bone to me?

What's your friend say about the filter? Is it supposed to be ready to drop in & run?

They're not supposed to be dripping wet with oil. Over-oiling the filter can damage the sensors along the way to the throttle body. If you're in doubt, buy a K&N recharge kit, wash out & re-oil the filter.
