Awesome easy engine swap!?
How hard is it to change from a 4.2 to a 4.6 or 5.4?

change motor, trans, axle, pcm, wire harness, mounts, probley quite a few things.

I think it would be cheaper to get a differnt truck,

Sweet truck by the way i've seen it a couple of times! I am already stuck with the 4.2. I have looked at a supercharger but it runs @ 4000.00 so you see my concern. I will wait for the ATI kit.

Your best bet would be to find a wreck with the engine you want. Then you swap out the drive train and related parts.
