Question setting timing_TFI-IV-4.9L

Ok I need help. I can work on cars pretty well but I've never really messed with timing before. I have an '86 F150 with a carbureted 300 and manual tranny and besides me being a moron I had to take the dist out to work on the ignition module and clean up the engine and I didn't mark anything. I want to set the timing right. Anyone got any pictures or drawings? How do I need to position the distributor in the motor and how do I need to align the rotor? Does it have to go in a certain way? I have a timing light and factory tach so if someone can help me out here I would appreciate it. I've noticed it has timing degrees molded into the timing cover on the right side but there's also a set bolted on the left. There's a notch on the harmonic balancer but I think somebody said that you can't use that one, I think I've found the right mark since I don't see any other markings on the harmonic balancer.
