O2 Sensor-Hints to change

Just crawled out from under the truck, was planning on changing the O2 sensors today but "Holy Cow" there's hardly room to get the wrench on the sensor on the driver's side!! Decided I wasn't in the mood to tackle changing the sensor's today. Besides it is so overcast here it is like working at sunset. I'm discovering that there is nothing easy about servicing this truck Anyone that has changed their O2 sensors that can give me any hints or tips on how to make this job a little easier sure would be appreciated.
Thanks everyone. BTW, not only is there very little room for the wrench but I can barely reach the wiring harness to unhook the old sensor. Thanks for anyone who offers tips.

Just done mine like two weeks ago. What i done was take a wire coat hanger, and use them to release the connectors. Just stick the end of the wire in the release, and pull down gently on the wire going to the sensor, if you have it released, it'll come apart no problem. The way I got the senors loosened was I went to the local Auto Zone, and put the 15 dollar deposit down on their Oxygen sensor socket, and used them. It looks like a deep wall socket, with a slit on one side, so you can run the wire through it. It's got a little crows foot thing w/ it also, so that you can work in the tight spaces. All needed to do was use the wrench to break it loose, after that, it was just finger tight. Good luck, feel free to ask more questions!

Blue Farmer, thanks for the advice, think I will try that tomorrow, I have some plans for this evening and wouldn't have a chance to get to AutoZone besides then the truck would be to hot to work on. Thanks again.

driver side no prob. the right side. i found that going through wheel well works good. one little bolt. tranny dip stick is out of the way. but i do have a 02 tool from snap-on. should be the same as the auto zone tool. looks like a crows foot. like blue farmer said. good luck.

Prepare to loose alot of knuckle skin I changed the two downstream O2 sensors about 12,000 miles ago and it was not easy. I let the truck idle for about a minute and then shut it down, got under there really quick with the special socket and proceeded to go at it. Even with letting the exhaust heat up a little I nearly twisted off the top part on the right side (dont ask me how) and proceeded to get bloody knuckles. I installed two new Bosch sensors and it was well worth it. I have not attempted to mess with the two upstream O2's (they are really buried in there).
