It's starting to get colder around here so the real test is yet to some. Actually between the EGR cleaning and replacement and the plug change, I have made my engine run rich. It could be a engine problem as it runs richer than I would like. But, that does mean one thing... I shouldn't have pinging problems.
I might try the Seafoam trick to be sure the engine is clean. I also need to change the O2's.
I actually would like to see what kind of shape the inside of my motor is in at 143K.

I have a 97 F-150 4.6L Lariet KingCab with 100,510 miles on it. It runs great, never uses oil, oil always clean at 3,000 miles but it has been pinging off and on for the last 30,000 miles. I tried changing octane grades, new fuel filter, cleaning the MAF, removed my K&N filter, cleaned the throttle body several times and all the other "fixes" but it still pings now and then. Seems more likely to happen to me in hot and humid weather. I love the truck, it has been great for over 100,000 miles now (only had to put a rear seal in the diff about 30,000 miles ago). I have noticed though that while in traffic, I have heard quite a few 97-2002 F-Series trucks pinging. All of the "crap" the oil compaines pass off as gasoline these days doesn't help either. Their is no consistency in their formulas.
