Ok, I have been tapping on the IAC valve about once or twice a week for about a month and a half because my truck would not idle. Yesterday I was leaving for a business trip and wouldn't you know the valve stuck again, so tap tap tap, and it wouldn't unstick. I was running late so there was no time to try to clean it. I had to take the piece of crap company car (Buick Regal). On my way I stopped at a dealership and picked a new IAC valve (the local dealer didn't have one). $75 and about 10 minutes of labor after I got home and she was all fixed, idles just fine now. I guess I will try to clean the old one and keep it on hand just in case - my basement is full of things that I have kept on hand just in case!

Anyways, thanks to Jeff Laws for telling me what this problem was a month or two ago. You saved me about $100 in labor that the local dealer would have charged me on top of the part.
