More EGR trouble

I need a new egr valve, I have a 92 f150 5.8L EFI 2wd Auto.
The one that I had on my truck is no longer usable. I ordered a replacement from autozone for 75 bucks (a wells unit) It looks the same, I put it on and check engine light comes on, wtf? (it did not come on before) Then I look at the paper that came with the egr and it says "always use the OE part number when replacing egr valve, dont go by if it looks the same" So im thinking god damn autozone...Havent returned it yet because I wanted to try some junkyards since its cheaper than getting another autozone one (if they even have the right one) but no yards had one.
Called up ford they said the egr valve was updated, so I would have to buy it and a new sensor for 190 bucks.
Anyone give me some suggestions, Im trying to sell this truck and dont want to put another $200 into it.
Thanks in advance

seems like the older style trucks and maybe some of the newer like to eat up the EGR valve. I'm having the same thing go wrong with my truck, EGR valve, EGR soleniod and this and that but anyway. If your tryin to sell your truck , to be honest with you, I wouldn't even touch it. If your sellin it, let the next owner worry about it. IF it runs good, that's all that matters. Just clean the truck up alittle and stick a for sale sign it. The EGR system is emission crap. It;s kinda funny, I hear alot that the EGR system shouldn't fail anytime soon. and that they usually last a good while too. But yea that is what I would do. Don't even worry about the stupid thing.

im guessig the light was not on before you changed the egr. why did you change the egr. if the light was not on. there are other things that could be wrong. what code are you getting. it would help if you could give this info. that sensor could be bad on the egr, or you have a vac line broken. the are more things than just the egr. ports in throttle body plug up. that sensor does like to see a certain readding. that a new egr might not be set for. being a non ford part. not sure. can you tell us the code. that might help.
