Remote Oil Filter is in...THIS, is what a kit should look like!!

Finished my remote oil filter...You guys take a look and tell me what you think...I used a Perma-Cool spin on adaptor on the block but that's it. The filter mount is billet from Petersons Fluid Systems, and all the hoses are Earls braided stainless and all the fittings are Earls. Everything is -10. Before you ask, the red manifold thing in the middle of the oil line is a manifold for your temp gauge bulb. Pretty neat. It's from Petersons also and has -10 fittings on it so no half-a$$ hose connections.

There are more pictures of the installation in my gallery if anyone cares...

Sweet job. Nothing like anodized fittings and braided stainless tubing.

Looks Good!

That looks professional.....Where did you get it and roughly how much did it cost? I have a 2002 FX4 and was thinking about doing that on mine.

looks good. I love the fittings and such. My mom's 97 expy came stock witht the remote filter and when I would take it to some Oil change places, they couldn't find the filter, LOL, so I had to show them.

galaxy,

that is super cool. Maybe I need to hire you to do Amsoil filtration system hook ups for me!!! I wish mine looked that good. Though I did use quality Parker Hannifin hydraulic fittings as well as high quality hose(no stainless though )

Good Job.

That's awesome looking!

Yea, gives us all the specs like part#'s, pricing, how many feet of line, etc. Looks expensive as hell. It's not worth doing on my 97 but when I get my new truck it's a different story.

No problem on the parts list. One thing though...This IS NOT a kit. I bought what I needed to create it. Yes, it was very expensive but well worth it IMO, and you never have to worry about a fitting leak, damaging a hose, or anything like that. I don't know about posting prices but you can shoot me an e-mail or once I get the list up you can shop and figure it out. I'll create a parts list and get back to you. Funny thing, after it was done, my wife said it looked so neat that I should make a kit and sell them. Huummmmm???

Hey ScrewLoose, I was soo impressed with your fan installation, I had to show you a neat installation of my own. (I was the one e-mailing you a couple days ago about your fan) Hope to do as good a job on that as yours when I get it.

There's also a bunch more pictures of this in my gallery if you want to go take a look.

If it's OK to post prices (since I'm not a vendor and this wasn't a kit from a particular manufacturer) someone let me know and I will throw them on here???

Thumbs up

It looks Great Galaxy;-) I agree with your wife on putting together a kit. My 97 has the remote filter but I really like what I saw of your install. I think I'll consider replacing my stock lines with braided stainless.

OK, here's all the parts. I'm still not going to post prices unless someone says it's OK,(total cost number does include a 2, and two zero's, but I wont say in what order) but I'll let you know where I got everything from and you should be able to figure it out. Actually, everything came from Summit except for the filter base which I got directly from Peterson Fluid Sys....

Earl's
981610 1/2npt to -10 adaptor (2)=These go in the spin on adaptor. Use teflon tape or sealant on these npt threads only!!
300110 -10 straight hose end (1)=one side of the filter base
318010 -10 180* hose end (1)=other side of the filter base
309110 -10 90* hose end (2)=goes on the end of each hose for attachment to the spin on adaptor.
306010 -10 Auto Fit stainless braided hose 6ft.=You wont need all of it but this is the smallest amount you can buy that will be enough. i.e. a 3ft. roll would be too short to do both hoses.

Perma-Cool
118 spin on adaptor

Peterson Fluid Syswww.petersonfluidsys.com/filtacc.html
filter base 09-0311 or 09-0313= they have two different bases and the only difference is one enters from the left and the other enters from the right. The way I do my installation with the straight end on one side and the 180 on the other, it makes no difference...as long as you match up the correct end on the filter base and on the engine...i.e. the line coming OUT the engine goes IN the filter and vice versa. [IMG][/IMG]

For running the hose, what I did was take the 6ft. piece and installed the straight end on one end and the 180 on the other. Once I had the filter base mounted and the spin on adaptor installed (oh yea, please install the 1/2npt adaptors in this piece before you put it on...)and the hose ends installed, screw one end on the filter and hold it up to the spin on fitting to measure where to cut it. Turn the hose around and use the other end on the other side and do the same thing. (remember I said you would have plenty of hose) THIS HOSE IS NOT EASY TO CUT AND IF YOU DONT KNOW HOW TO DO IT PLEASE TAKE IT TO YOUR LOCAL SPEED SHOP. YOU WILL FRAY THE CRAP OUT OF IT AND NEVER GET THE ENDS ON IF YOU TRY IT WITH A HACKSAW OR SOMETHING ELSE.It can be done rather easily and nicely with a SHARP set of aviation tin snips or large shears if you know how. Good luck. Directions come with the hose on how to assembly the hose ends if you've never messed with AN fittings before. You do not need any teflon tape or thread sealant of any any any type on AN fittings. They can be removed and installed indefinate amounts of times with no damage and no leaks. Sorry I don't have measurements for the hose readily available but I think they would all come out at least an inch or so off due to mounting technique and where the spin on adaptor actuall tightens up at. My fittings ended up verticle but some could end up horizontal. Doesn't change anything as far as the installation goes but could require a little more hose due to routing differences and things like that. Mine also has the manifold in the line which changes things also. Feel free to go to my gallery and look at the pictures to get a feel for how everything is done. If I can help anyone who's going to tackle this, send me an e-mail and we'll get in touch. I actually did think about creating a kit but I honestly believe it would cost too much and I wouldn't sell many. Besides, don't know too much about the business aspects or legalities behind doing something like that. So...enjoy.
