Unhappy Engine Shut-Off at Startup

Three times in the past couple of months, my truck has shut off right after cranking. Just as the RPM's fall to idle, it shuts off and will do it over and over unless I rev the engine a few times, then it clears up and runs fine until the next episode.
Kinda reminds me of vapor lock in a way, but that can't be with fuel injection. Out of warranty, so I thought I would put the question to you guys before consulting a mechanic.

Thanks guys!

I used to live around Huntsville, AL and would go to the hockey games there. They would make fun of the teams name from macon. I think the team that played them was the chargers. And to answer your question about it shutting off, I have no idea what would casue it.

Thumbs up

Well Thank You, gentlemen. RAOUL...your reply was especially helpful. I talked to my service dept. manager at the dealer yesterday (Ford Customer Relations suggested) to inquire about buy-back-assistance from Ford or a free ESP warranty from Ford because of recurring transmission troubles and a few other problems and I mentioned the problem I asked about in this post. Sooo...to make a long story short, I am taking the truck in tomorrow and will find out what they will fix for free, if I get a free ESP, or...if I am lucky buy-back-assistance(doubtful). Be nice to ride around in a SCrew!
LIGHTNINROD....Keep It Flyin' brother! Bedford Forrest would expect it.

Thanks again all.

Cool

Well...The iac was the prob. Y'all hit it on the head! Thanks. It will be replaced free of charge, even though my factory warranty ran out 12k miles ago at 36,000.
My service manager told me today that I am going to get a 100k mile ESP at no cost to me because of my recurring transmission issues. That is a little piece of mind for me Tomorrow the door crack will be looked in to.
It is sometimes surprising what a little diplomacy and politeness along with determination can get a person!
