Post Low End Torque Loss

I have a '97 F-150, 4WD, Lariat. Mods to date are a: K&N FIPK, Superchip and a Flowmaster Delta 40 series.
Mike Troyer has already told me that the Gibson sideswept is a better choice, but the Fmaster is brand new - certainly not trash material yet.
Need to know what addtl parts I can look at to compliment the existing mods and re-gain my low end.
Suggestions?

Cool

Hi Pete N

You are on the right track with the modifications you have so far, to get your low end power back replace the factory Y pipe on your exhaust, you will gain a noticable amount in the low end as well as the mid range.
Hope this helps, any more questions just ask.

Larry.

Also, try adding pulleys and possibly an electric fan. Pulleys are cheap for the power gains; about $10 per horse... $85-100 for a set and gains of 8-15 horses. Fans open about 10-15 horses and can be had for anywhere from $120-$300. You could also consider some headers, or possibly a new throttle body.

With your intake and exhaust I could see losing low end, but didnt you gain that back and more with the superchip?

Pete N. - I've found that it's not so much the muffler you choose that effects low end loss as the diameter of exit pipe (pipes). Bigger pipes give you better performance at high rpms, smaller diameter pipes give better low end torgue. I've never lost LET from improved air intake and certainly not from a Superchip so I'd be looking at pipe size.

No. I noticed zero difference with the chip. At idle (parked) when I gun it, it initially (for a second or so) sounds like its suckin air. The mid and high ranges are good.
No affect w/the chip.

Hey Pete thanks for the info. I have a single 3" into a Z33 ravin with two 2.5" out. I also have the AF1 intake. I've been debating on a superchip because I feel, like Winder says, that Ive lost low end. (high end is nice). I was thinking the chip would replace all that and more. . Now instead maybe I will just get my exits changed to 2.25" ea.. thanks for the info. Let me know what you do with other mods and what else you find out. thanks!
