Ford gave me different options other than just replacing the radiator.

Supercrew2001red5.....you the Man....looks like you got some sweet extra's. Everyone should get that treatment!
a) 6/60000. Powertrain Care ESP free.

b) $150.00 towards the purchase of Ford
Accessories.

c) $1000.00 towards the purchase of a new
vehicle.

It took the dealer from the time I arrive to the time I left 1 Hr. to do the switch.
Life is good. And I love my Supercrew.

I also would like to thank all contributing F150 online members for informing me of this dilemma.
Good luck to everyone else who have not gotten what they paid for.

Well just got my new truck last night. Boy is it pretty!!!! It did have two flaws, bad paint job on drivers side passenger door and of course the wrong size radiator. Service manager said he will fix the paint and look into the radiator thing. I feel it will be taken care of with no problems, this is the 9th auto we've purchased from their dealership.

I stated earlier that when I picked up the truck I state how I faired using the X-Plan.
Truck MSRP = $27,890.00
Dealer Invoice = $24,866.00
X-Plan Price = $24,466.00
Rebate = $1,000.00
Total = 23,466.00

Also, the X-Plan can be used to get a discount on the ESP.

Now I have to decide on which mod. to install. So many mod's, so little time.....

Thanks for all the great information.

Don

Walley Man--

I was so excited yesterday about getting the radiator that I misinformed everybody.
Here is the letter from my area rep to my service manager...

Some F150 owners that purchased the class 3 towing package did not receive the upgraded radiator-as publizized.Research and engineering found the larger radiator unnecessary but was unable to communicate that to publications-in time. The PVT is working on a resolution. If the customer is adament about having the radiator installed-the dealer can go ahead and install one. However, there may be some other options(as I showed in my previous post) being offered which the customer would not be eligible for if the larger radiator is installed. Again, the resolutions mentioned have not been approved yet.I would ask cutomer to wait for a little while until we have a clear answer.

I decided to get the radiator now instead of waiting.

And you can see Ford is now installing the SC radiators.

Have a nice and SC day.

OK dang-it, all this has made me decide to double check mine now too. Man.....I thought I would just get myself by without worrying about it.

Anyhow, I keep seeing mention that Ford should be doing a Recall and so on. They won't and shouldn't need to do a Recall. WAIT, don't scream yet! A Recall generally addresses a safety related issue. Something that has the potential to cause harm or a dangerous or damaging situation. If the radiator had the potential to fail or explode etc., a recall would be in order.
However, if you took a truck that has the smaller radiator and put it to work "properly" towing or hauling the maximnum of what it is rated for in the most reasonably extreme conditions, there is probably only a fraction of a percent *if any* that would actually over heat to the point of a dangerous or damaging immediate failure. Granted, it may certainly cause long term problems that might shorten the life of the truck or parts of the truck not to mention that you/we paid for the extra cooling capacity and it would definetly benefit from that extra cooling capacity, but I'm willing to bet that the difference in cooling capacity from the 1.02" to the 1.42" or 2.02" wouldn't cause an immediate failure. An inconveniance or a real concern at the increased temp. which could effect it's drivability and power, maybe.

Ok, I hope I didn't give anyone any reasons for flaming but if you think about it, I think you'll see my point.

HOWEVER, don't stop reading and start flaming yet!! Let me stress, if your truck has the wrong radiator, whether you'll ever come close to needing that additional cooling or not, if you decide you want it replaced/resolved by Ford, you damn well have every right to and and at minimal inconveniance to you. Further, Ford damn well has every obligation to do it with a smile! Ok, maybe a smile is asking too much. At least, like many of you are finding is happening, the dealer should do it with a smile on behalf of Ford.

Now here I go to measure mine and man, I hope it's right because if it's not, I'll be knocking on Payton-Wright Ford's door like a pack of Amway sales people trying to win a trip to Disney World!!

My truck and dealer problems were carried on the evening news by our top rated local news station today.
What station was it on? I wished I had seen that one.

Courtesy Ford is replacing mine with no questions asked. The service manager called and Ford said to replace it. Waiting for it to come in now.

Good luck!

WIXT Channel 9 ran it as one of Your Stories. The story which was titled "Leasing a Lemon" aired yesterday at the top of the 5:30 news cast and once again at 11. I received a call from the owner of the dealership offering me a more generous settlement, still not what I was asking though. I did agree to come out and see him after lunch so we might reach a deal afterall, but I'm still highly skeptical.

Dan Cummings who gave the interview asked me to call him once a resolution was in place so they could do a follow up story. It was so nice finally getting the word out about the hassles that I've received from Ford! I have been very surprised at the supportive response I've received from people who watched it. Very comforting!

Y2K,

Glad to hear something is starting to work in your favor. I'm dissapointed I missed the broadcast. I was going to suggest you try Chan. 9 "Your Stories".. Glad you did.

Keep us informed how you make out.

I will be getting my 1.42" radiator installed next week. It came in and we even measured it. Roughly 1 1/2". Looks good to me.

So, I think Ford is correct in saying that this radiator is adequate and those of you with it do not need to be to worry about your truck self-destructing. Ford just screwed up by not publishing their change in their spec sheets and literature. Probably thought that since trucks were not overheating, no one would notice.

You have to wonder who made the decision to put the smaller radiator in the tow-package trucks though. This has happened too many times and over too great a time period to have been an accident.

The problem is they are still charging the same amount for the towing package, while not giving you a substantial part of it. It really doesn't matter how effective the 1.02" is. The price of the package has not changed in years and plenty of older trucks got what they should have gotten. They are also still saying in all of their publications/advertising that you receive a upgraded radiator as part of the two package.

On a 2001 the spec for the Super Cooling radiator is 1.42" single core. Here is the link for the online source book.

http://fordtruck.fordtraining.com/cg...=17&buttonid=4

Scroll down to the Technical Specifications section and select Cooling System Specifications.

I had my radiator changed and got the 2 row upgrade. What was odd was when we ordered it (I had my choice either 1.42 in. or 2.20 in. 2 row) I asked the parts guy which one cost the most and he said the 1.42 inch.!!!!
