Recalibrate Computer??
1999 F150 4.6 automatic. 85,000 miles
Took my truck into the dealer today. They are replacing several sensors (MAF, oxygen and 1 other). These are all covered by my extended warranty but they tell me they have to recalibrate the computer which is not coverd. The cost for this is $74.50 I don't mind paying the money but in all I have read on this site I have not read anything about this recalibration. Is this something that normally needs to be done or is my dealer getting to me? Thanks for your feedback

All I've ever had them want to do is to clear the computer memory and you can do that by simply diconnecting the battery for 5 min. I may be wrong but if they are using the exact same part as what they removed disconnecting the battery should be all they should have to do. You should only need to recalibrate if they use a different sensor then they used at the factory.
