Thumbs down Off Topic, but related to Wrong Radiators

As of yesterday, I am the proud owner of a 2001 Focus ZTS, and wanted to bring up something closely related to the F-150 wrong radiator issue.

While shopping for a Focus, I wanted certain options, such as those that come in the SE Comfort Group, and SE Sport Group, as well as ABS. According to the salesman, each and every option that I desired (power windows, locks, remote, ABS, etc.) came standard on the ZTS. According to "Build your Own" on and the online Souce Book at www.fordtraining.com, the salesman was correct.

Of course, the dealership wanted a sale, but I was persistent that I didn't want any of the SE models on the lot since none were optioned with ABS. The salesman left for a second to consult with some of the others and came back with the statement that the ZTS comes standard with ABS. With that being known, I bought the ZTS.

When I was washing the car this afternoon, I was curious to look into the car. Lo' and Behold, the ABS warning light never came on during startup, nor is there an ABS module under the hood.

So, I called the dealership this evening to inform them of my disappointment. Despite ALL the published literature that I have (2000 Source Book, 2001 Source Book, Build Your Own, and two other spec. sheets) states that ABS comes standard on the ZTS, the sales manager informed me that Ford made a running change as of 3/31/01 that ABS was now an option.

However, the base price of a ZTS did not change. The thing that I don't understand is that an SE model with all the options as the ZTS (except the 16" wheels), including ABS, is the same price as the ZTS without ABS.

So, what do I get for the price on the ZTS? Well, it looks like the premium pays for the map pockets on the seats and the 16" wheels. We used to get ABS, but why not now?

What is really frustrating is that I purchased this car on A-Plan, and I told the salesman that I wanted to shop around for a car with ABS. With A-Plan, I could have gone AYWHERE to find the car that I wanted. Now, I'm stuck with a car (which I really like), but it doesn't have the ABS that I thought I paid for.

Does anyone have anything to share? Do you think that I can at least be reimbursed by the dealership for the price of the ABS that was "sold" to me but not equipped (it's a $344 option for A-Planners)?
