K&N question....

Which is better, the K&N filter in the stock air box or the K&N FIPK? Is the FIPK worth the extra money?

Thanks,

Jason

you'll see a bigger power gain from the FIPK. the filter by itself is barely worth it.

If your plan is to spend money and build horsepower, then K & N FIPK or Airforce 1 are good ways to go. If you just want to save some $$ by not having to buy paper filters over the life of the truck, then get the K & N drop in.

My money is on the FIPK, I have a K&N installed.

I have never used a drop in, but I have seen others comment on how loose the filter fits. I have seen comments of people using foam tape to make a drop in a tighter fit. This is just what I have read, I have never used on myself.

I have been nothing but happy with my K&N FIPK.

I did AIT readings and the temp only has about a 5* mean from the outside air, so don't buy into the open element vs closed element BS. It is just that, BS.

Thanks everyone...guess I'll just save my money and get the FIPK.

Hi Dewser

Did you see the independent tests done on air intakes?

www.F150world.com

There is a difference between cold air intakes & exposed filters under hood. Lots been posted on that.

I just have K&N drop in...no really noticeable gains...but filter paid for itself long ago. There are gains to be had with FIPK etc. how much VS cold air intake?

Good luck....OT

I switched to a K and N drop in last week and we got another 1 mpg. Doesn't sound like much, but with a 20 gal fill up, its a buck and a half per tank. The filter will more than pay for itself.

Peace, Dennis
