I have a 1998 F-150XLT and my engine light came on. The code was for the EVAP (P04552). I did some research and found some very informative info I wanted to share. I am stationed in Puerto Rico and it was hot the day I refueled my truck. I didn't want my wife and kid to sweat to death so I refueled with the truck running. I know this is a general no-no, but I believe that is what caused my Check Engine light to come on. You see, when I refueled with the truck on, it caused a fuel pressure drop monitored by the PCM. The light didn't come on until I got on the highway, but now I am sure that is what caused the fault. This was a $60 lesson learned (cost of diagnostics) and I hope that my mistake saves you time and money. Take care.
