Raditor - My take now
Ford has done a very bad job of explaining this. Ask any dealership to pull the running change sheet for the F150's or Screws. There is one for each car and truck that shows what has been chnaged throughout the year. Most people at the dealerships will look at you funny and say they have never heard of this. This is normal as most customers know more than the yahoos selling them. You will find someone who knows what it is. You will see that this change is on the sheet for last year. It was communicated the the dealers.
Also I have found no mention anywhere in Fords sales lit that says there is an upgraded raditor for 2001 on the Super Crew. It says HD Electircal and HD Cooling for the Super Crew which is in the the Trailer Towing group. The HD Cooling package that does say it comes with Super cooling is clearly marked as not available on the Super Crew. Take a look at Kelly blue book site. The info they post is as it is recieved from the manufactures. They do not edit it, just post as is. (Explains why this site is pain to read soemtimes)It says option Code 535 - Trailer Towing, Includes 7-Wire Trailer Harness, Class III Hitch Receiver, H.D. Shock Absorbers & H.D. Electrical/Cooling Pkg. Which Consists of H.D. 72-Amp. Battery & Auxiliary Transmission Cooling.
Ford does not update there source books or parts books for that matter very often. I have the Final Printing of the Ford Master Parts Cat. for 1966 - 1972. It was printed in May of 1976. It lists parts for My car in 1969 that were never made and never installed on anything much less available for purchase yet they are still in there.
Bottom line is they cut the raditor and kept the price the same to increase their profit per truck. This has been reported to Blueovalnews.com. They will jump on anything that Ford does wrong and tell the world. 3 months and silence from them. I have seen more evidence of possible wrong doing here than what was reported on the Greenleaf affair yet they are still silent on this. My guess is that there is nothing to go on.
I bought a 99 Tuarus SE paid for the 3.0 DOHC motor becuase all the sales lit said it had 200 hp and a dual exhuast. Yet my car had a single exhuast and 185hp. Runing chnage said this change was made as of November 1998. No change was made in any lit and Ford can do this because on everything they publish they say all details are sunject to change at any time without notice. This has worked for all the auto makers for 50 + years and most likely will continue working in the future. I still haven't seen evidence that any lawyer has come forward to take this on. You think that there is enough out there circling to jump on a chance at a Class Action Suit. BTW the way I don't think you can file a Class Action suit, I think you need to file a suit and ask a Judge for Class Action status.
Bottom line I keep my cars and trucks for about 2 years, the warrnaty last longer than I'll keep it so I think this is not an issue for me. If you can get something for free out your dealer go for it. I'm not going to lose anymore sleep on this.

Put it this way:
There's been a flurry of discussion about this here and elsewhere.
When people in the future start researching these boards when trying to decide on a new truck -- and if they need one for serious towing -- they might opt for a vehicle with a radiator that at least LOOKS like a truck radiator.
This one will backfire on Ford -- only they'll be too busy trying to convince people their vehicles are better than tires for many months to come.

Jhuntley,
I believe you are mistaken. Ford information clearly states the the "Class III trailer tow package" is available on the Supercrew. It also clearly states that the class III tow package includes among other goodies, the "HD Electrical/Cooling package."
It is further clearly stated that the HD Electrical/Cooling package" includes "Super Engine Cooling (radiator upgrade)."

I am not an expert but my understanding is that the "HD Electrical/Cooling Group" is not available as a seperate option on the SuperCrew. You need to purchase the "Class III Trailer Towing Group" to get the complete package.
At the direction of my Sales Rep, I went into "fordvehicles.com", and entered the "Owners" area (bottom, left corner of the page). After registering, I was able to get to a page that allowed me to email them regarding specific equipment on my truck.
Basically, I asked "What thickness of radiator core should my truck have?"
I received a response the next day. It stated that my truck should have a 1.42" radiator core. I have the 1.02". I passed this on to my sales rep (6/19), but have not heard back at this time.

Read it. However my sales lit from Ford dated August 2000 printing for the 2001 model year clearly shows that the upgraded raditor is not available on the Screw and not included in the trailer towing package. His info is from the web site, which I can not confirm.
