Post Intake Question/ Pondering

Anyone know how may cfm the stock throttle body on a 2001 5.4l v8 will flow? The reason I ask is this. With all of the intake mods that are we all are doing, myself included, are we really achieving anything? For example, lets say the stock TB will flow 250 cfm. A stock papaer filter will flow 300 cfm, a K&N 400, and so on. What good is all that extra air when the TB will only let so much through? Also, lloking at the Silencer that some have removed, it seems to me it is better to leave it in place, heres why. The reduction will do two things, it will compress the air going thru, making it more dense. It will aslo increase the velocity of the air that is going thru. If I am wrong, please correct me, but this seems logical to me.
