I use Amsoil 0-30W and love it. Will change at 5000 mi intervals (per Ford warranty issues). I would probably change at 5000 mi intervals anyway even if it can easily go well past that. IMHO, engine oil is just too important, and it is relatively cheap insurance.

What about the interval difference between changes? If I use a synthetic and change the oil out at 7500mi - or whatever is recommended for the specific oil I'm using(filter at 3000mi) do you think that it makes a difference to FORD? I assume that they recognize that synthetic change intervals are longer than regular ones, but that may be an incorrect assumption.

My service manual states that only API certified oils may be used (some synthetics are not API certified), and that when using synthetics normal change intervals must be maintained. So unless you want to risk any possible warranty concerns later, the potential cost savings of using synthetics won't really pan out until after the warranty period has expired.
