Engine wont start

I have a 2000 Lariet with 34k miles. Last week it started acting funny when I start it in the morning. The engine would crank then drop way down and I would hear like air escaping then it would pick up and run ok. Well this morning the same thing happened but it did not start it died, tried several times and the same thing. If I keep my foot on the gas pedal it will run, as soon as I take it off it dies. Did this for approx 5 minutes and it runs ok now. Any ideas??

Next time it won't idle try tapping the IAC a few times then try it.
This happened to me and the IAC was gummed up. When I hit it a few times it unstuck itself.

I had the IAC replaced under warranty at about 25K. It was on back order at the time and I had to carry a screwdriver for the intermittent 'no idle' condition.
