I heard awhile back from an owner of a local shop that to remove and put in a different engine in later model fords ('97 and up) the cab has to be removed first. Is that TRUE??????

There was a controversy here not too long ago about this. You could try and find it with a search.
I guess that it is an option.

I know thats how they replace an engine at the dealerships. Compltelty remove the cab of the truck and R&R the engine.

It may be a little easyer to do it that way but I think you can get it out with out removing the cab just remove the grill and all the stuff infront of the engine and pull it out that way.

There were some guys several months ago that confirmed the dealer removed the cab to pull heads, if they had the equipment to pull the cab. Otherwise, there was an arduous procedure for pulling heads.
