3 water pumps in 12000miles
Was it bearing failure (I assume it was leaking too)?
Did they replace the fan?

If they had bearing/seal failures, the usual causes are too much belt tension and/or unbalanced situation (fan).
I'm assuming you're using genuine brand new Ford parts and not some water pump that came to your local parts store through China.

I wonder if they flushed the cooling system & added new coolant. most waterpump remanufactuers require the contaminated coolant to be replaced or the warranty is void. Could be a cause of repeated failures.Hard to believe you could get three bad pumps!

Wonder if they tested for an over-pressure situation? If the cooling system is getting over-pressurized, like from a head gasket leak, and the pressure cap's sticking, it could over-pressurize, causing seal failure.
Now, you'd be likely to be having other problems, but...
Another possibility is an improperly machined block, which would put the pump in a wrong position, and cause excessive bearing wear. Careful measurement would detect this.

I had a problem that the dealer thought was a water pump gone bad but one of the service tech's realized it was a seal between the waterpump and engine and not the pump itself. There is an "M" recall on it from ford. If they are replacing the pumps but not dealing with this separate seal problem it will keep appearing that the pumps are bad. Just a thought.
