Post PRE-DETONATION , Dieseling???

Hey guy's I am new to this forum and from what I've seen so far I love it.. I have a question about engine Pe-detonation, when climbing hills or under hard acceleration I have a diesel sound from the engine. I have been told that this is pre-detonation of the fuel in the cylinder and that it was caused by cheap gas. Well I have run 5 complete tanks of texaco super @ 1.96 a gallon and still sounds like crap. Is it possible my engine is running to lean? or something different alltogether? any help will be appreciated.

I've asked this before as well. I hear a definate dieseling when turning at stop or at low speed.
Using high octane gas isn't the answer, as you have pointed out.
I'm going to make some time with the dealer and get this figured out.
I don't believe it is piston slap either.

I should have mentioned this only seems to happen from 3000 rpm on up.
