tps adjustment and pcm
Was able to adjust the new tps to .98 of a volt. the problem now is the code scanner I bought will not communicate with the computer. I don't think adjusting the tps would cause the computer to quit working, I think the pcm has been my problem along, goes back to a post I had earlier about the fuel pump running all the time when I turn on the key. The fuel pump still continues to run when the key is on and when it starts, the fuel pump runs and the torque converter feels like it is locked down, but now the code scanner will not work with the computer. I tried it on the wife's 93 Aerostar and it ran through good, so I know the scanner works.
Any Ideas.
Thanks
Ron

Hi Ron,
You may just need to get a newer style of scanner, as all 1996 & newer vehicles are OBD-II (on-board diagnostics Rev. 2), and they all require a different (and more expensive) scanner.
There are 2 basic "classes" of scanners for these Fords, one for the 1996 & newer vehicles (OBD-II compliant), and then one for all older vehicles from 1995 on back.
Good luck!

The Truck is a 92 Ford F-150 5.8.
I just bought the scanner from AutoZone it is a Actron scanner. The scanner did good, it found the tps was bad. Once in a while you could turn the key on, the fuel pump would run for about two seconds and the truck would start good, the scanner would work good. when the fuel pump runs all the time the scanner will not work. Thanks for telling the location of the computer, it was not easy getting it out from behind the kick panel.
