Unhappy throtle body coating?

I was takeing my air ducting off my truck to see how dirtry it was inside the throttle body, and it is dirty! and there is a decal on the throttle body saying not to clean it because of a special coating on it. what is this coating? what does it do? also how can i clean the throttle body? there is crap that is so built up it kinda flaks off.

Cool

I dunno what the coating is, but I went to Napa and got some of their throttle body/carb. cleaner in the spray can. Said on back of can that it would not harm t.b.'s coating of teflon, so I kinda figured that may be the "special coating". Anyway, used it on mine and presto*Clean T.B.* and no prob.'s. Yours sounds as dirty as mine was.

If it is real dirty, save yourself the trip and go ahead and but 2 cans. A little overkill, but I like stuff to be clean.

Hope this helps!
